Imperfect Circle

A circle drawn in ink and ochre wash on heavy paper — but drawn by a hand, not a compass. The arc is bold where the brush was loaded, thin where the pigment ran out, broken entirely where confidence faltered. Surrounding the form, faint pencil lines trace earlier attempts at the same gesture — the ghosts of circles past. Splatters of sienna and black ink mark the moments of decisive action. Grid lines beneath suggest measurement, preparation, control — all of which the final mark deliberately abandons. A meditation on the distance between intention and execution.
