Nocturnal Bloom

Three moonflowers open their white trumpets to the darkness, each petal luminous with an inner light that seems to come from the flower itself rather than any external source. The largest bloom faces the viewer full-on, its delicate stamens visible at the throat, golden pollen dust catching the faintest illumination. Purple and mauve foliage frames the composition — not the green of daytime but the shifted spectrum of a garden seen by moon alone. The leaves have a velvety weight to them, dark and heavy, pressing inward as if the garden itself is closing around these fragile white signals. A closed bud on the left promises tomorrow's bloom. The rendering is exquisite — you can see individual veins in each petal, the slight translucency where the tissue thins at the edges. These flowers exist for perhaps six hours before dawn destroys them, and Soren has given them the archival permanence they deserve.
