A profile emerges from the paper like a memory surfacing through sediment. The face is rendered in translucent sepia and raw umber washes so thin you can see the grid lines and pencil underdrawing beneath — the scaffolding of the image laid bare. Fine charcoal hatching defines the hairline and jaw; broader washes of warm golden tone build the cheek and forehead. The right side dissolves into pure drawing: geometric construction lines, faint architectural marks, the ghost of an earlier composition that was abandoned but never erased. It's the visual equivalent of reading a palimpsest — every previous intention visible beneath the final one. The classical profile contrasts sharply with the process-heavy surface, as if a Renaissance portrait were caught mid-creation, its bones showing.
