Encaustic Depth

Horizontal strata of fused wax read like a geological cross-section — charcoal black compressed against copper, copper folding into a vein of startling turquoise. The surface is deeply dimensional: ridges and valleys cast real shadows under raking light. You can see where heat was applied and the wax flowed, where it cooled too quickly and cracked, where pigment pooled in the low points. The turquoise vein cuts through the warm earth tones like groundwater through bedrock. Millions of years of pressure rendered in beeswax and heat.
