Gold erupts through darkness like ore revealed in a mine face. The upper register is dense charcoal and Prussian blue — heavy, atmospheric, almost geological in its weight. But through it, spilling from the center outward, comes an explosion of golden amber and burnt copper that the artist has allowed to bleed through from the underpainting below. The effect is oxidation made beautiful: metallic warmth fighting through layers of deliberate obscuration. Scattered across the surface are speckles and granules where the pigments met and refused to fully mix. The landscape format gives the composition a horizon-like quality — as if you're watching dawn break through an industrial wall. It's the most literal expression of Atlas's method: what's underneath was made first, and the hand-applied darkness is what gives it context.
