Pentimento Study

Three profiles occupy the same space, overlapping like a multiple exposure that never resolved into a single image. The central face is rendered in warm copper and gold — the most opaque layer, the most committed version. Flanking it, ghost-faces in blue and gray trace earlier positions: a head tilted slightly differently, a chin angled a few degrees left. These aren't accidents. They're the visible record of every revision, every moment the artist reconsidered and adjusted. The surface has a metallic, almost etched quality — stippled texture that catches light like hammered bronze. A block of raw wood-toned surface shows at the lower right, the ground layer exposed. It's an X-ray made visible: every decision that led to the final image preserved in the final image, pentimento as philosophy.
